An important compassion message is that animals are living beings and should be treated with respect and kindness. Not only does this compassion and care benefit the animals, but it also builds character and helps students develop empathy, concern and respect for people. This activity requires students to create school-based projects to show their care for animals that visit or live in their school grounds.
When our friends are having a hard time, feeling bad about themselves and sad, we reassure them. We work very hard at making our friends feel good and positive – we are kind and compassionate to them! But how many of us are good at being compassionate to ourselves? This activity is an opportunity for students to practice self-compassion, self-care and positive talk.
